The concept of ORIGIN is "natural nutrition"

For over 30 years, ORIJEN has been helping dogs and cats reach their biological potential by providing nature's food. ORIJEN foods are the best expression of biologically appropriate nutrition, made with whole prey animal ingredients to provide your dog or cat with the protein-rich meals they deserve.

ORIJEN uses only the highest quality ingredients, which are checked and controlled at every stage of food production from start to finish.
We carefully select nutritious ingredients to help keep your pet healthy.

Biologically Appropriate Nutrition

Inspired by the diets of our cats and dogs' ancestors, ORIJEN foods are packed with ingredients that reflect the animals' natural eating habits and evolution. We use an incredible number of fresh and raw animal ingredients to create the best nutrition and flavor for your dog or cat, helping them thrive every day.

Rich in animal ingredients

Dogs and cats are evolutionarily carnivores and need to consume a lot of animal protein such as meat, poultry, and fish. ORIJEN is packed with many animal ingredients to ensure maximum intake of animal protein and nutrients.

Whole Prey Food

In nature, the ancestors of dogs and cats ate the most nutritious and juicy parts of their prey - red meat, poultry, fish, organs and bones - so ORIJEN uses these whole animal ingredients in all its recipes.

What are the ingredients in Whole Play?

Whole Prey animal ingredients include meat, poultry, fish and nutrient-rich superfoods like juicy organs like heart, liver and kidneys, plus a small amount of bone to nourish your pet.

Why do you insist on the whole thing?

Whole Prey's muscle meat and organs are packed with nutrients such as amino acids and fatty acids. The small amount of bones contains minerals that are essential for your pet's growth. ORIJEN food uses nutritious animal ingredients, so you can feed less.

What are fresh or raw ingredients?

All ORIJEN pet foods contain fresh or raw ingredients to ensure the highest nutritional value and flavor, meaning fewer added nutrients are needed.

Fresh: Orijen's fresh ingredients are kept refrigerated only.

RAW: ORIJEN's raw ingredients are frozen at their freshest to preserve their nutritional value.

Highlights: Our Kentucky, USA kitchen has over 25,000 square feet of refrigeration space where we store fresh and frozen ingredients before they are processed into Orijen dry foods.

85% made from the highest quality animal ingredients

Ranch-Raised Meat

ORIJEN's beef, bison and lamb are typically raised on ranch to ensure proper nutrition. The highest quality meats are rich, natural sources of protein and essential nutrients your pet needs.

Free-range chickens and turkeys

Free-range chickens and turkeys are not caged, but are allowed to roam freely in their coops, which have no access to the outside. They are not exposed to the threat of predation and have access to clean, fresh food at all times. ORIJEN's high-quality poultry meat is packed with the animal protein your dog or cat needs.

Free-range eggs

The eggs used in ORIJEN come from cage-free hens that are allowed to roam freely in the coop, rest on perches and lay eggs in nests. High-quality eggs are an ideal source of protein for your dog, as they contain the essential amino acids he needs.

Wild caught or carefully farmed fish

We partner with fishermen around the world to provide high-quality, nutritious fish. We use wild caught and farmed fish that are raised by fishermen with care. All ORIJEN foods contain fish that contains essential proteins and fats to ensure balanced nutrition.

15% is fruits, vegetables, herbs, etc.

Orijen foods contain high-quality animal ingredients as well as high-quality fruits, vegetables and herbs sourced from producers we trust.
These ingredients are added with your pet's health in mind, providing them with nutrients, essential vitamins and minerals, natural preservatives and lactic acid bacteria.

Unused raw materials

Orijen does not use low-cost raw materials, but uses protein-rich animal ingredients.
Whole-prey ratios of organ meat, poultry, fish and bones provide essential amino acids, nutrients and minerals.

📢Frequently Asked Questions about Origin📢

Q: Can you tell me about the safety of the food?

Built as an initiative for pet lovers around the world , NorthStar Kitchens are globally recognized Safe Feed/Safe Food (SFSF) and HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) certified. Additionally, NorthStar Kitchens and New NorthStar Kitchens are one of the few EU certified pet food facilities in North America. We use a track and trace system to track ingredients at every stage in our kitchens. All of this information is stored in a database that links to the finished product lot code. This allows us to trace individual ingredients back to their suppliers and any stage of our kitchen process.

NorthStar Kitchen has a comprehensive, industry-leading food safety system in place, including a HACCP program, and our kitchens adhere to strict Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), ensuring our pet food is produced to the highest standards.

Origin's Quality Assurance department follows a testing protocol from the moment ingredients enter the kitchen through production and packaging. Origin's quality assurance personnel follow strict, scientifically based protocols to sample and test raw materials, in-process products, and finished products. All finished products are tested for pathogens before being released or shipped. No products are shipped until they are deemed good to go.

----------------------------

Q: How to store ORIJEN pet food?

A: Once opened, ORIJEN pet food can be safely stored in its packaging by rolling up the top of the bag after each use.

If you live in a humid climate, consider storing the food bag in an airtight container. When changing food bags, always wash the container to prevent food from building up. Be sure to record the lot number.

Orijen foods do not need to be stored in the refrigerator and are best stored at room temperature in a cool, dry place in the home, not in a garage where temperatures fluctuate frequently.

----------------------------

Q: About the expiration date

A. The quality of Monolysine products is guaranteed until the expiration date printed on the package.
The expiration date is printed on the top of the back of the package along with the lot number and product information.

----------------------------

Q: Is the packaging vacuum-filled?

A: No, they are not vacuum packed. They may appear to be vacuum packed due to the air pressure at the time of import and other factors.

----------------------------

Q: Is it okay to feed ORIJEN pet food to pets who are overweight?

A: Yes. The unique feature of ORIJEN food is that it is biologically appropriate, providing more energy from protein and less energy from carbohydrates. Excessive carbohydrate intake (in most cases) is more likely to be converted into body fat.

Protein provides the same amount of energy as carbohydrates, but it affects the body very differently. Unlike carbohydrates, protein is essential for life and is a biologically appropriate source of energy.

----------------------------

Q: Is Orijen suitable for older dogs?

A: Yes. Traditionally, a low-protein diet has been recommended for senior dogs, but recent research has completely disproved this idea. As dogs get older, a protein-rich diet is especially important for maintaining their health and strength, so rest assured.

Carbohydrates and protein are important factors in an older dog's diet - the more protein, the less carbohydrates.
In other words, a high-protein diet is low in carbohydrates to begin with. For elderly dogs, excessive intake of unnecessary carbohydrates is not good. Carbohydrates are essentially sugars, which can lead to diabetes and obesity.

----------------------------

Q: What is the difference between fresh, raw and dried ingredients?

Fresh Ingredients : Our fresh ingredients are stored refrigerated only and meet the standards set forth by AAFCO (Association of American Feed Control Officials).
Raw Ingredients: Same as fresh ingredients but frozen at their freshest to preserve nutritional value.
Drying: Dried fish and meat ingredients are made of meat, bones and cartilage, which are concentrated sources of protein. Bones are also very rich in minerals. Dried ingredients are made by removing moisture from meat, bones and cartilage through a cooking process.

----------------------------

Q: How do I transition to Orijen food?

When first feeding your dog or cat ORIJEN foods, we recommend choosing a meat-based recipe that matches the type of food they currently feed, to ensure a smooth transition and minimise the risk of gastrointestinal upset.
For example, if your dog is currently eating a poultry-based food, we recommend Orijen Original.

Start with a mixture of 25% new food and 75% old food. Over a period of 10-14 days, slowly increase the proportion of new food until it's 100% new food.

----------------------------

Q: What is food rotation? Can it be achieved with ORIJEN pet foods?

A: After switching to Orijen, many pet lovers adopt a feeding method called "food rotation."
Alternating between different ORIJEN products helps keep your dog or cat from getting bored of eating the same thing every day and provides a variety of proteins and fats.

We recommend rotating each bag to start with. When one bag is finished, the next bag should be a different recipe. When introducing a new recipe into the rotation, use a 50/50 mix to help your pet transition to the new food. However, if your dog or cat is sensitive to food changes, try increasing the mix by 25% over a 10-14 day period. After that, you can make changes as you like.

----------------------------

Q: Which product should I choose?

A: When feeding your dog or cat ORIJEN food for the first time, we recommend choosing a meat-based recipe of the same type as the food they are currently feeding.
This method will make the transition smoother and minimise the risk of gastrointestinal upset. For example, if your dog is currently on a poultry-based food, we recommend ORIJEN Original.

----------------------------

Q: Are there any feeding tips?

A: For most pets, we recommend feeding them twice a day.
Feed the amount recommended in the feeding guide in two separate feedings, 8-12 hours apart. For example, if the feeding guide says "1 cup per day," we recommend giving 1/2 cup in the morning and 1/2 cup in the evening.

Once you have determined the ideal daily amount of food for your pet's health, you can adjust portion sizes, which will change over time depending on your pet's age and how active they are.
Always remember that a toned dog or cat is a healthy pet. Many dogs and cats have a strong appetite and will eat everything they are given. Because ORIJEN is tasty, be careful not to feed them too much, as this can lead to loose stools and weight gain.

In Japan, ORIJEN pet food is distributed not only as genuine products, but also as parallel imports. All products sold in our store are genuine products and are imported in temperature-controlled containers . We take every precaution to ensure quality, so you can feed it to your pet with peace of mind.

Officially imported products : These are imported into Japan via the Japanese branches of overseas manufacturers or official distributors with import and sales contracts.
Parallel imports : Products imported through unauthorized channels. They are cheap but often have quality issues.

<Import and export management> The import and export of "official imports" is managed by overseas manufacturers and official distributors in Japan. On the other hand, "parallel imports" often have complicated distribution routes, and even if a problem occurs, it is often difficult to determine where the problem lies.

<Shipping method> "Official imported" products of ORIJEN, ACANA, and Ziwi are imported in temperature-controlled containers . On the other hand, "parallel products" are often transported in regular containers, and it is not uncommon for quality to be difficult to maintain when they pass through high temperature and humidity areas.

Parallel imports are often cheaper than genuine products. However, if any problems arise with parallel imports, neither the official distributor (official retailer) nor the manufacturer will respond. You also need to consider the possibility of problems such as differences in quality control, deterioration of quality, and differences in standards, so instead of choosing based on price alone, we recommend that you consider the risks of choosing parallel products.

Please rest assured that all of the overseas foods we sell are genuine . Please try the genuine products we sell.
