The Joy of Running, Together Forever. Krill Oil for Joint and Kidney Health

Krill oil?

Monolith’s Krill Oil is made from Antarctic krill that live in the clean waters of the Antarctic Ocean.
It is produced by Aker BioMarine, a world-renowned company.
Made using 100% Antarctic krill, it is a high-quality, nutrient-rich krill oil.
Krill oil is packed with essential Omega-3 fatty acids, and is highly absorbable, making it an excellent source of nutrition.

💡 Antarctic Krill – A Natural and Clean Source 💡
With fish oil, you can’t always know which sea the fish came from or what they have eaten.
But this krill oil is made from Antarctic krill, which live only in the pristine waters of Antarctica and form the base of its ecosystem.
That makes it an exceptionally clean and safe ingredient.

What are Omega-3 Fatty Acids?

Omega-3 fatty acids (DHA, EPA, DPA) cannot be produced by the body, so it is important to obtain them through diet.

They are known as beneficial nutrients that support daily health and help pets maintain a well-balanced lifestyle.

By incorporating Omega-3 fatty acids into the diet, you can provide valuable support for your pet’s everyday well-being.

Omega-3 absorption rate is about 3 times higher than fish oil

One of the key features of krill oil is that it contains phospholipids as part of its composition.
Fish oil does not contain phospholipids.

Krill oil is rich in phospholipid-bound Omega-3, which makes it easier for the body to absorb and enhances its health benefits.

Phospholipids are the building blocks of every cell membrane in the body and brain.
They help keep cells flexible, protect them from external damage, and support the intake of oxygen and nutrients.
Through this function, krill oil effectively supports overall health and brain function.

💡 Krill Oil Dissolves in Water! 💡
Fish oil separates into water and oil, but krill oil dissolves in water.
That’s why its absorption in the body is different.
Even dogs and cats that dislike oily foods can take it with ease.

The Role of Astaxanthin

Another special feature of krill oil is that it contains astaxanthin.
This powerful component is not found in fish oil.

The antioxidant power of astaxanthin is about 550 times stronger than vitamin E!
EPA and DHA have the drawback of being highly prone to oxidation, but astaxanthin helps protect and cover that weakness.

Astaxanthin protects the Omega-3 fatty acids—DHA, EPA, and DPA—from oxidation.

[Thick Texture – Proof of 100% Purity]

Krill oil is characterized by its slightly thick texture.
This comes from its phospholipid-bound Omega-3 and is proof that it is packed with rich nutrients.

Note: Some other krill oils may appear thin and runny, but these are often not true krill oil. They are frequently mixed with other oils, such as salad oil, resulting in lower quality.
Our krill oil is 100% pure.
When choosing a product, it’s important to carefully check the ingredients.

In addition, krill oil may harden when the temperature drops, but this is actually a sign of its high quality.
If it does become firm, simply warm it in water at about body temperature (around 37°C), and it will return to its smooth state.

Human-Grade Quality - Safe for Pet Owners Too

Since it was originally developed as a human supplement, owners can take it together with their pets.

Becoming forgetful or having trouble staying focused,
this supplement helps support memory and attention, parts of cognitive function that decline with age.
It is also recommended as an alternative to glucosamine and chondroitin.

How to Give Krill Oil

Give as-is
Krill oil has a natural seafood aroma.
You can give the capsule directly like a treat.

With meals
For pets that are cautious, try giving it together with their regular food.

Dissolve in warm water
If the capsule feels too large, place it in about 30–50 ml of warm water (around 40°C).
Once the capsule softens, pierce it with a toothpick to release the contents.
You can then give the oil with the water or drizzle it over food.
This does not affect the quality of the oil.
Please be careful when using a toothpick to avoid injury.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: How should I give it to my pet?

A: First, try giving the capsule as-is to see if your pet will eat it.
If not, mix it into their food.
For pets that don’t like capsules, place one in warm water (about 40°C) until it softens. Then, pierce it with a toothpick to give only the contents, or simply offer the water with the dissolved oil.

-------------------------------

Q: Does it have a smell? I’m worried my pet won’t eat it.

A: The oil itself has a seafood-like aroma, but most dogs and cats eat it without any problem.
There is also a slight smell even when it is still inside the capsule.

-------------------------------

Q: When should I give it?

A: It’s fine to give it at any time of the day.
If the recommended daily amount is large, you can divide it into several servings.

-------------------------------

Q: Can people take it too?

A: Yes, people can also take it. The human supplement Shiawase Krill is exactly the same product. The human version is registered as a “Food with Functional Claims.” Please feel assured when taking it.

-------------------------------

Q: I have a shellfish allergy. Is it safe?

A: Technically, Antarctic krill are not shellfish but plankton. However, if you or your pet have a shellfish allergy, we recommend starting with a very small amount and monitoring carefully.

-------------------------------

Q: What are the capsules made of?

A: The capsules are made of gelatin. They may become firmer when stored in a cool place, and softer when stored in a warm place.

My pet has kidney or liver problems—are phospholipids safe?

【What Are Phospholipids】

Phospholipids are essential fats necessary for life.
They are the main components that form cell membranes.

Phospholipids play a role in binding fats to proteins when they are transported and stored in the body, and they are also involved in cell signaling.
Because they have the ability to interact with both water and oil, they help fats bind with proteins and move through the bloodstream when being used or stored as energy.

If phospholipids are lacking, cell membranes cannot function properly, which can lead to health issues such as cholesterol buildup in blood vessels.

To sustain life, it is important to consume an adequate amount of phospholipids.

【What Makes the Phospholipids in Krill Oil Special】

Krill oil contains high-quality phospholipids.
While excessive intake of phospholipids can place stress on the kidneys, the amount contained in supplements is not enough to cause overconsumption, so it can be safely given even to pets with kidney or liver issues.

In fact, Omega-3 fatty acids are considered especially important for managing chronic kidney failure, and since krill oil also contains astaxanthin, it can help reduce the burden on the kidneys.

Many owners already use krill oil for pets with chronic kidney disease, and there are numerous cases where their pets’ condition has been successfully maintained.

【If You’re Currently Using Alpha-Linolenic Acid (ALA)】

Many Japanese people, as well as many dogs and cats, lack the enzyme needed to convert alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) into EPA and DHA. If this enzyme is missing, even if you consume a lot of ALA (such as from flaxseed oil, perilla oil, or egoma oil) for health benefits, you won’t actually experience the power of EPA/DHA. The EPA and DHA in krill oil are highly absorbable because they are phospholipid-bound Omega-3 fatty acids, which allows them to pass through the blood-brain barrier. Phospholipids act like natural emulsifiers (similar to soap), enhancing oil absorption, which makes krill oil more efficiently absorbed by the body.
